Cooking grid still cleans up easily and looks like new (after over 100 uses). Like other grills but hate having to open them when there is no hinge on the hood---this hood is hinged.Will probably last anothet 2 years---for 40 bucks---quite a deal. Cooking surface is 18 inch square---enough to cook 8 burgers easily. My first one came with a shattered bowl handle, bent front grid brackets and a few other dents. Amazon was very good about taking it back. I boxed the damaged one back up and UPS was there the next day to pick it up. I didn't think I'd get the replacement in time for my Memorial Day picnic, but it came in plenty of time.Space was a primary concern for me. I was running a picnic for up to 50 people, so room was at a premium in our Subaru Forester. This grill just squeezed in when placed on top of the 4 coolers. All the other stuff I had to bring to the picnic kept it in place. I'm thinking of making a travel bag for it with some of that anti-slip material on the bottom of the bag. That might keep it in place when there's less other stuff to keep it from moving around. The last one died and I decided to try the Aussie Walk About. Hands down superior to the Weber. The Aussie starts the charcoal easier than the Weber an heats the grill surface more evenly so there are not hot spots on the grill surface. (Aussie has side air vents at the front and back of the grill, Weber has one vent in the bottom center of the grill below the charcoal. Both have a vent in the cover. The vent design of the Aussie just works better), Gives food much more of the smoke flavor than the Weber (probably the venting system again) and has a larger cooking surface than the Weber. The hinged hood and ability to fold the grill up for transportation and storage also contribute to making this grill the best I have ever owned. I would never waste my money on a Weber again. I am really impressed with the design of this grill! I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a great product at a reasonable price. |
